Hello Kitty Daily turns your Nintendo DS into a day planner/PDA complete with a kiddie-style “friends” address book, budget-tracker, notebook function and alarm clock. What more could any hyper-organized, regressed 36-year-old with a spare $29.99 want?
Reports on when Hello Kitty Daily will “drop” continue to vary, with Amazon.com still showing a Nov. 10 ship date. But, since I’m the type of person who prefers to keep looking until I find an answer I like, I settled on GameStop’s Nov. 4 release date.
So, after casting my vote on Election Day, I headed to GameStop with my 4-year-old in tow. I didn’t see the telltale pink box bearing the sweet little cat who rules girl nation and weighs as much as three shiny apples, so I asked the helpful sales clerk. (Just a few weeks earlier, they let my kid test out Curious George for Game Boy Advance, whose cartridges work with the DS.)
Turns out, Nov. 4 was the ship date and I needed to come back at noon the following day (today.) But after waiting in line behind several hard-core gamers and random indulgent parents I found that, sadly, UPS lost the package containing the week’s releases, including Hello Kitty Daily. Apparently, they’ve been dealing with angry customers all day. No, they weren’t waiting all for Hello Kitty.
Stay tuned to see if I secure a copy of Hello Kitty Daily, or if Badz Maru makes off with all subsequent copies.
