Mario bling
You don’t have to be a girly girl, or even a girl, to want to a little sparkle on your DS Lite console. Everyone needs a little “bling” in their lives, right? Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to go if you want to bling out your DS, from super-affordable to $600-plus Swarvoski crystal DS bling. Here’s the lowdown on the bling thing options:
1. Hire a bling expert. If you really want to get your bling on, and can afford to pay for quality and attention to detail, consider hiring someone who adds blings to electronics professionally. A company in Germany, BlingMyThing, has taken Nintendo DS bling to an art form. I can’t post pictures here, but check it out; way cool. 2. Go ultimate high-end. You can find Swarovski studded DS Lites at the Nintendo World Store in New York’s Rockefeller Center. Also, Crystal Icing, based in New York, will bling your DS with Swarovski crystals for about $350. They’ll do Mario, crystal skulls and more. Hey, Paris Hilton has one.
3. Buy a bling skin. Less lux but still classy are the affordable bling skins sold by mass retailers. You just place them on and they cling to the DS console. Most are removable, so if you get bored with your bling you can just switch it out.
4. Wait for a promo. In the past, Nintendo has offered limited-edition bling kits with select purchases of a Nintendo DS Lite console. They’ve had Mario bling and Princess Peach bling, and there’s hope that Nintendo will come through with more bling in the future.
5. Bling it yourself. A cheap, fun way to get you bling on is to do it yourself. There are plenty of “bling kits” (aka design crystal kits) available from companies such as Gemz and Glitz. Some include individual crystal while others have hearts, swirls and other shapes ready to apply to your DS Lite. Make sure the surface is clean before adhering and let your creativity go wild!
