17-in-1 Bundle Pack

Amazon is offering up 25 percent off select Nintendo DS accessories through Jan. 31, and there’s plenty to choose from, as well as accessories for other gaming platforms such as Wii. Most of the DS accessories highlighed, such as the Nintendo DS Lite G-pak Organizer are still 10 percent off, as they were in the a promotion Amazon ran earlier this month. A pink 17-in-1 Bundle Pack for Nintendo DS Lite by DreamGear (pictured) is 10 percent off, making it $17.96, as is a Nintendo DS Lite 20-In-1 Starter Kit in Pink by Icon. Nintendo DS Lite Nerf Armor is 7 percent off in some (not all) colors, making it $13.96. There are definitely some deals to be had, especially if your order totals $25 or more and you get free Super Saver shipping.

Littlest Pet Shop

The little stylus that fits snuggly inside the Nintendo DS Lite console is handy, but after a few minutes (or hours) of gameplay, some users find their hand cramping up a bit, or wish they had something a little more pencil-like. Fortunately, there are other options besides the thin, black plastic stylus that comes with the DS and which, by the way, is also available in a variety of colors.

Nintendo’s official word on styluses, or styli, is: “To avoid damage to the Nintendo DS Touch Screen, only use a Nintendo licensed stylus on the touch screen.” Also try not to use your fingernail, and even better, apply screen protectors to lessen the chance of scratches.

Nintendo has licensed some cute styluses in themes such as Littlest Pet Shop, Animal Crossing and Pokemon. There are small styluses that look like a Star Wars Lightsaber. Nintendo has even licensed a stylus that looks like a pencil, but it’s only available in Japan or through importers.

Princess Peach

If you’re looking for something more elaborate, the $15.95 PDA Panache Pro stylus is made of solid brass and boasts a screen-safe stylus tip, shaped finger grip and balanced weight. It fits in the DS Lite storage slot, but they no longer sell the version sized for the original DS.

You won’t be able to fit the large styluses in the storage slot, but you can easily stash them in your purse or Nintendo DS case for gaming on the go. With so many cute styluses to choose from, you’ll be stylin’ in no time.

Silver Pack

You can’t get much more girly and glam than this new Silver Pack from Thrustmaster. In fact, Thrustmaster’s marketing people are aiming it straight at women who love Bridget Jones and Sex in the City. From the press release: “These users not only want functionality such as protection for their gaming console, but also to remain glamorous and fashionable. Thrustmaster’s design team has come up with a gorgeous ‘designer’ accessory that will appeal to young and older females.”

I agree; it’s very glamorous, and if were going to take my DS to the club, I would definitely pry it out of the ugly Nerf Armor it’s in now and take it in this. The Silver Pack includes a stereo headset with its own powder compact-style mirrored case, a cleaning cloth (pink, of course), a car cigarette lighter charger and four game cartridge storage cases.

The Silver Bag alone is priced at $15.99, while the pack is $34.99.

NoveltyGallery DS Skin

Etsy seller NoveltyGallery is selling full-color Nintendo DS skins for $8.50, and you get all four panels. (Pictured is “Animal Kingdom,” which is one of the most popular designs, for obvious reasons.) The skins are vinyl decals that apply easily and can be peeled off without leaving a residue. Skins look cool while helping to protect your console from scratches. Shipping is $3 in the U.S., and the seller donates 10 percent of the proceeds from every sale to Boston Children’s Museum. Order soon if you want it to arrive for the holidays.

DS Keepsake Box

Toys R Us is having another two-day sale, running Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6. There’s a Doorbuster sale from 3 p.m. to Midnight Friday and 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday that includes 50 percent off selected Nintendo DS accessories: Valise, Natural Cotton Organizer and Game Wallet. The rest of the Friday-Saturday sale has several DS deals. Selected Hello Kitty and Littlest Pet Shop DS accessories at 25 percent off. If you buy a DS console you can choose a Game Traveler case plus one of three selected games for $149.97, a savings of $25. Or, buy a console and get 25 percent off the pink DS Keepsake Box (pictured.) Also, a few games are half off, including Rubik’s World and Cooking Mama 2.

Mytego DS skin

Is your Nintendo DS Lite looking a little naked? You can jazz it up with a “skin,” which is essentially a thin vinyl overlay you place around the two screens on the console, and/or on the outside of the console. Using a laser-cutting process, skin makers precision cut the areas around the control pads and all those little holes and button. In most cases, the skins are easily removed and no resume is left, so you can switch out your skin when you’re ready for a new look.

Mytego.com is an online company that custom prints reusable DS skins you design yourself. (They also make skins for the DS Lite and original DS as well as other video game consoles, cell phones, laptops and so on.) You upload your photos and, if you like, add text. There are four “faces” (top, bottom and around the two screens) you can design. One face is $12, two are $21, three is $28 and all four are $34. Shipping is $3.

If you don’t want to use your own photos or images, Mytego has many to choose from and also sells officially licensed, branded designs. (The skins you may see on eBay and other places with trademarked characters may not have the official OK).

Play stand

A few days ago I mentioned the Nintendo DS Lite Play Stand licensed by Nintendo and produced by Hori. It’s perfect for those hands-free cooking games or any “desktop” game. It’s regularly $12.99, but Amazon has it on sale for $4.95 through Monday, Dec. 1. I almost added one to my Black Friday Amazon order, but I don’t think it works when your DS Lite is in a thick case. (I had to put Nerf Armor on mine–more on that later.)

Princess Peach Bling

Several retailers, such as Wal-Mart, Circuit City, GameStop, Best Buy and Toys R Us, are already offering Black Friday prices on items advertised in their day-after-Thanksgiving ad inserts.
