Friday, January 23rd, 2009Personalized Fleece Nintendo DS Case on Etsy
Monday, January 5th, 2009What could be cozier than fleece? Etsy seller Handamade, who lives in California, is making and selling custom Nintendo DS Lite cases for $30. The price includes personalization with individual letters. The cases are hand-sewn of fleece, padded with polyfiber fill and feature the wristlet loop and a zip-top closure. Decorative features can include appliquéd hearts and real buttons. (“Handamade” also has a sense of humor, noting that the example case shown “is custom made for Camille. If your name is not Camille don’t buy it.”)
Handmade Monogrammed Nintendo DS Lite Cases
Tuesday, December 30th, 2008What could be cuter than a handmade Nintendo DS Lite carrying case with expertly chosen coordinating fabrics? A monogrammed DS Lite case! Esty seller QTCreations is selling her handmade carrying cases for $15, but for an additional fee (contact her for details) you can have your name or initials stitched on. The case holds up to eight games as well as a DS Lite.
Crochet a Nintendo DS Lite Case
Friday, December 19th, 2008You know how cozy afghans are. Well, how about making a cozy crochet case for your Nintendo DS Lite? Crocheting is fun, fairly fast and not very hard once you learn a few basic stitches. If you want to try your hand at crocheting a case for your DS Lite, there are a handful of patterns to be found online. Even if you’re not an advanced crocheter, you can also experiment with your own design, doing something as simple as making rows of half double crochet stitches, perhaps with a size E or F hook, and then stitching the piece together to form a pocket or sleeve with a simple closure.
“Fruppi” crocheted a Nintendo DS Lite case for the Lion Yarn Challenge and even added little crocheted mushrooms. Super cute! You can see the results and pattern on Instructables. She included little pockets to hold DS games and there’s even a pattern for the mushroom.
There are several already-made, handcrafted crochet Nintendo DS cases available for purchase on Etsy, but one seller, celiaescuela, offers a crochet pattern for a DS Lite cozy (pictured). It’s $5 and comes in printable, PDF form. Her example is pink, with scalloped edges and flowers added to the closures.
Cute Pink Mushroom Nintendo DS Case on Etsy
Monday, December 15th, 2008I just found another super-cute Nintendo DS Lite fabric pouch from one of my favorite Etsy sellers, mlleclorofil. This time, she’s sewn a sweet pink mushroom onto dotted fabric. It makes me think of Mario. It costs $15. Mlleclolorfil (her real name is Chloe) is in Ireland, so it’s too late for her to ship gifts to the U.S. in time for Christmas, but she takes custom orders and would be a great seller to keep in mind next time you need a cute birthday gift for a DS player.
Cute, Affordable Nintendo DS Skins on Etsy
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008Etsy seller NoveltyGallery is selling full-color Nintendo DS skins for $8.50, and you get all four panels. (Pictured is “Animal Kingdom,” which is one of the most popular designs, for obvious reasons.) The skins are vinyl decals that apply easily and can be peeled off without leaving a residue. Skins look cool while helping to protect your console from scratches. Shipping is $3 in the U.S., and the seller donates 10 percent of the proceeds from every sale to Boston Children’s Museum. Order soon if you want it to arrive for the holidays.
